SPOART Signal/Playbook
May 1st 6-9pm

In athletics, the signal is a non-verbal way of getting a message across that requires two parties, artist and mentor, athlete and coach, or the spectator and the spectated, to 1) establish a relationship, and 2) practice presence. The playbook compiles signals that, when given, initiate thought and motion. Inhale and exhale, mark and erase, try and try again until you crave ice cream! Then keep drawing realities, making moves, and embracing the way the world is. SPOART: Signal / Playbook is an integration of the athletic concepts of signals and playbooks with the practice of art making. The show celebrates the nobility of intuition and critical, honest thought in times of great pressure and expectation.
