I’m Here For You
Andy Erdrich

September 18th- 27th 2015

I’m Here For You, an exhibition by Andy Erdrich, displays social media correspondences which have come to discretely occupy space both inside and outside of the internet. These exchanges are at once casual or mundane and yet strange; one person appeals to a mass of others for grant money, and another seeks temporary companionship for lunch. While such gestures elicit the usual personalized responses, they also, curiously, produce a more dynamic thread of social interactions.

The critique of social media is moot, presented here as neither harmful nor beneficial. Erdrich displays the thread of each spontaneous correspondence in a minimal, almost documentarian manner. By archiving these happenings which span multiple social platforms, the work resembles evidence and the artist acts as a journalist.
